  1. well you um take sumthing think and dull and put it up its rear if u feel something the its a boy there might be an easier way but that is the way i was taught (he might bite wen ur doing so)

  2. If there are two bumps and a v shaped line of dots at the base of the tail, it is a boy .  If there is nothing (maybe really faint v-shaped line of dots) it is a girl.  If it is an adult and a boy, it should be pretty obvious. If it is a juvenile, you might have to wait awhile to tell.

  3. As I've already said, you can't. The previous answerers are just guessing or assuming that blue tongues can be sexed like other lizards. A vet cannot tell you either. There are only two ways a vet could tell, expensive DNA testing or cutting it open to examine the sexual organs. Male blue tongues have very small sexual organs and there are no visible bulges. The females have glands that look identical to a male's hemipenes. I've been doing this a very long time and promise you there's no way.

I have a friend who has several dozen adult northern blue tongues and breeds on a large scale. The only way he can tell the s*x is by putting two together and seeing what happens. Two males will fight. Two females will ignore each other. And if they start mating, he knows he's got a male and a female. Some people think you can look at the size of the head to deterrmine s*x, this is inaccurate. And they cannot be probed or visually sexed any other way.

Here is a quote from bluetongueskinks.net on how to s*x them. Notice it's the same as what I already said:

"If you're unsure of your animal's genders, carefully place them together and observe. Your female will likely start wagging her tail like a whip in a frantic motion, or even ever so slightly. Your male will likely freeze, and stare. He will then take two or three short steps, then bolt towards her biting onto the neck. Even if you do have a male and female, there is always the possibility that they might not do anything, so be patient and be sure to keep trying. Be sure your animals are at least over a year old; the female preferably should be two years or older. If you combine two males, they will likely act very aggressive toward each other; more so if they have an aggressive personality. Two combined females would likely result in absolutely nothing unless you had fairly aggressive natured females. We go into great detail about this in the below sections on determining s*x."

Here is another quote from the website:

"I'm sure you've heard a hundred times by now that it's next to impossible to tell male from female, but it's really not that difficult when you know what to look for. Like I'm sure you've heard before, the male will often have a larger, bulkier and more triangular head, thicker tail base, slimmer sides, and huskier throat. You've probably also read that males tend to have brighter, more orange colored eyes, while the female's are more brown (which is actually not true). In fact, none of these methods are accurate at all."

And there's more. They do say you can look for a sperm plug, which indicates a male. But other than that, you can't tell. You can read more at http://www.bluetongueskinks.net
