  1. "Just like you named your kids we are naming ours. Our baby, our choice"

  2. just tell them. it is your  baby and it is your choice. do not let them pressure you. there are so many  beautiful names and you want to choose something special and unique for your special unique baby.

  3. just tell them and run like a *****

  4. Just tell them.  There's nothing wrong with giving your baby its own individual name.  A name in a family has to start somewhere.

  5. Your parents will not be as obsessed as you may think.

Just pick the name and tell them when the baby is born. They won't throw a fit... if you truly know that they would care then give the baby a middle name the grandparents would like or agree on.

You can always pick your top 2 choices for middle names and have the grandparents pick. This way they're involved a bit as well.

    All the best.

  6. Keep the baby's name to yourselves until it is born.  Then, introduce the baby to your family members.

We kept our daughter's name a secret until she was born.

That way, we avoided unwanted opinions on the name that we chose.

    :-)

  7. Just tell them you picked the name because it is the name you love most.. The baby carries on the family's DNA already so you shouldn't feel burdened to carry on a name.

  8. You need to keep in mind that YOU are the parent of this child. Not YOUR parents...so you should not have to explain yourself as to why you would like your child to have it's own individual name as opposed to a family name. Have you thought about naming your child what you would like and using the parent name as a middle name? In the end, when the baby is born, your parents won't be thinking about "oh jeez! I can't believe they chose THAT name for this child!" They will simply "ooh and ahh" over how cute the baby is and what a wonderful asset you've brought into their lives!

  9. Say "Hey I'm naming the baby [insert name here]."

You could always make the baby's middle name after your parents. I'm sure they don't really care if it's named after them, it's your kid so it's your choice. Hope I helped. :D

  10. How about just telling them? There is no way to beat around the bush--they WILL find out. I'm sure they'll be upset, but when they see the cute little baby, they'll forget all about it :)

  11. Honey just give it to them straight! Tell them that it's your baby and you get to decide what to name it!

  12.   If there is a family tradition of a name, then be sensative when you tell them.  Some people take these things personally, and you don't want to hurt their feelings.

Otherwise, try to just settle on a name before you tell anyone.  If you talk about the name out loud, before you have settled on one, it leaves room for people to put their 2 cents in.  Pick a name, and then just tell everyone what name you picked and how much you love then name.

I have heard it said the way to see if you really like a name is to yell it (up the stairs, or outside) 3-4 times in a row, because you will be doing that a lot when the child is older.

  13. mom dad this baby will be named individually not duplicated me and my wife/husband wanna give him its name ourselves

  14. let them know that its ur baby and not theirs to dcide for
