  1. I text my girles nearly everyday from my computer to my cell phone so the answer is yes you can just make sure you fot the persons proper adress```here is an example 7244427367@txt.att.net

The best thing for you to do is have the person you want to text to is have them send you a message to your email then file those numbers for the next time.

I am useing gmail with the gmail notifer so i can send a text ad see their answer poping up so i can text them back right away.

    Good luck

  2. There are a couple of ways. The easiest is often to go the provider's website and they usually have a way to text. Verizon Wireless (my provider) has the option online and has an email address for each phone. It depends on the provider.

  3. Either you use yahoo IM if they have an IM account or go to that cell carrier's website and click the text messaging option.  All cell carriers have it.

  4. Well i have alltel but with my phone company you can just go to there website and somewhere one the page it will say text a friend.

    good luck!

  5. There is a program on the web called Skype, which allows you to make phone calls to landlines, text mobile phones and chat with friends. The program itself is free, but you will have to pay for texts and talktime. The program can be downloaded here: http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download...

This will be the simplest and cheapest way to achieve what you want.

You could also use your instant messenger to do this, but the service will probably be more expensive than Skype and harder to use. Either way, you'll still have to pay.

    Hope this helps,

    Tom.

  6. idk you cant.

  7. You can go to the carrier's website... If you know who the carrier is for the phone you wish to send a text to. All the major carriers have a section where you can type and send a message to a mobile phone from your computer.

Alternatively, If you don't know your intended recipient's carrier. But you know they use either T-mobile, Sprint, or NexTel... You can use a third party site. The most popular is SMS Everywhere. The reason it's so popular, is that you don't have to register or download anything. Just type in the phone number of where the message is going, type your message (you have 150 charcter limit), then hit "send" and you're done. The service is available only for messages sent to US phones. I've included the link  to SMS Everywhere, in the source box.
