How do you text a number from another country?

my friend lives in tunisia and i live in england so her number is shorter than mine and when i tried to text her when i was back in england it didnt work so i just wondered what i need to do so i can text her.

your mobile company must support international SMS. if it is ok, you have to put +tunisia country code before the number. you can also send free sms via internet

Every country has it's country code. So to text your friend, you must type + and then the country code, and then comes the phone number. I live in Ireland, so an Irish phone number is like 086-123-4567, but in order to text me, you would have to enter the country code(353), then the number, so this is what the number would look like if you wanted to text me from another country [phone]. It probably seems confusing at first, but it's totally not.
