  1. you cant assume that babe ruth would be anything less than spectacular in any era he plays in hes arguably the greatest hitter of all time and not to mention that this era is a hitters era and babe was one of the greatest there was

  2. With the exception of a few rule changes, the game is pretty much the same as it was in the 1920's Plus the pitcher's mound is lower giving the batter a greater advantage than he had back then. Ruth would probably still murder the ball.

  3. I think he'd be awesome.  He LOVED baseball from an early age.  So he would probably do what was needed to play.  i.e. work out, stay away from the night life etc.  If he didn't, he wouldn't make it out of AA ball

  4. I say he would be nothing with all they better pitching and steroids. Also people nowadays train like crazy to play. If you see a pitcher of babe he is not the fittest guy. He lived in a time were they smoked, drank, and chased women after games. Players nowadays dedicate their lives to baseball.

  5. Well you would have to bring Lou Gehrig along too because they both had a huge impact on each others career numbers.  I think that Ruth would definately have conditioning issues later in his career BUT I think his mindset about that would be different considering the greater money that the players make today.  Also those hitters typically only face 1 pitcher for the WHOLE game. Also there are ALOT more teams today with foreign and minorities in the game.  Today the average hitter faces 3-4 different pitchers every game.  I think that the equipment difference would be a non issue.  I think a HUGE key issue though would be if he still played for today's Yankees with their HUGE press.  Ruth had alot of issues outside of the game that would make A Rod look like a saint compared to Ruth.  If I had to guess what his stats would be, I would say he would a .320 hitter 40-50 HR's and about 120-130 RBI's a year in his prime.  So he would still be great but his career numbers would be much lower. Same for almost all pre 1940's players.

  6. well, if you stransported the old babe directly to now a days, i dont think he would do well because of conditioning. However, if you took someone with the skills of Babe Ruth and with proper dieting, workout routines and conditioning, i think he would hit  100 hrs per year.

  7. I think he will still be one of the greats because I don’t think he reached his limit back in his time. With all the new equipments and training available in this era, he should still hit like crazy.

I am not sure he can produce the same as before because pitching has improved more than hitting during the baseball development. Back then, it is easier to time pitches because there are fewer different kinds of pitches. Nowadays, all that breaking balls and change up strikes are ridiculous. Even the four seamers have tons of movement. Hitting is still all about timing.

  8. He'd suck. He wouldn't be in shape enough to play and players have been improving up to now.

  9. The Babe wouldn't be allowed to eat a lot of hot dogs and train more so he would be a great player and would be able to hit those 96mph fastballs the pitchers throw today. He would also be able to hit the screwballs and sinkers which pitchers in the early days didn't throw. He wouldn't be as dominant though. Hitting HRs would be as easy as it was and would strike out a lot.

  10. He would have performed the same or better.  Remember, he would be on the same training programs today, just like everyone else.  The guys was an incredible talent, period!

  11. He had the talent then and he would have it now.  How would any of today's players do back then with inferior equipment, playing conditions, no batting helmets, and pitchers throwing at their heads?
