Boris is very bright but completely out of touch with local people.  However there is a precedent in both UK and USA for outsiders to win mayoral elections, like John  P. O'Brien.  He has none of the experience or savvy of Ken, and really is a lightweight and a clown.  Whether he can slough this off and lose the image of the eccentric of the lower remove is open to doubt.

Dumb & Dumber spring to mind - I had high hopes for Ken originally but having paid hundreds if not thousands of pounds on congestion charge & still seeing the tube & bus prices rise whenever I did want to take public transport I'm not conviced Ken delivered however I think Boris is an idiot but haven't seen his policies/proposals for change yet ....

They  are  both  Excentrics , sometimes  foolishly  outspoken .

Political  parties  are  like  religeons ; people  believe  in  one  party  or  another  as  suits  their  social  status  or  what  they  think  is  good  for  themselves  or  their  country .

Ken  represents  the  essence  of  socialism ; but  not  everything  he  has  done  as  Mayor  of  London  is  good . Always  remember  socialism  is  practised  for  the  benefit  of  other  people , not  oneself .

Like  Ken , Boris  expresses  more  extreme  views ; both  are  intelligent  in  their  way ; either  one  could  bring  benefits  to  the  people  of  London  or  not .
