How do you think Eddie handled himself on the Footy Show last night?

Question

How do you think Eddie conducted himself when being interviewed by Sam? Has the interview changed some of your opinions on the issues at Collingwood? Or has the interview made you dislike Eddie even more (if you already did!). And no Collingwood bashing please, this is a question about the president handling issues, not the players who caused the problems.

i think eddie was great i think sam is a fool but it wont stop me watching the footy show i just wish the great bucks could make a special appearence

Eddie did what he had to do in the place he feels most comfortable with an interviewer who is not an interviewer. (No offence to Sam, but he is not). If anything, the interview showed that Collingwood, while not exactly turning a blind eye to issues, just chooses not to believe the things that are told to them about their players. Sounds very suspiciously like what happened at WCE before the big implosion, and we all know how that one has played out.

It did nothing to change my opinion of Eddie one way or another.

I didn't see it, its on too late here in QLD and need to get up early for work every morning. But i cant hate Eddie more than i already do, and i hope Sam gave him heaps of c**p.

Hey lozz, I missed the Footy show - of course I was too busy on yahoo and facebook and forgot to watch!!

I think he handle himself well as he usually does he is very media savy but he still tried to make excuses for Didak and Shaw  which I found admirable for his loyalty to them but I found myself thinking would he feel the same if the players weren't so vital the Collingwoods finals chances.

Eddie McGuire still owns The Footy Show doesnt he?

If so then he has used this medium to make himself heard on his own terms. As far as the interview was concerned, Sam was a lame duck and to me it was clear that Eddie knew what to expect, as with everything that unfolds on The Footy Show.

Another interesting point I would like to make is about Eddies outburst earlier in the week. When he was interviewed he was abundantly clear that he and others at Collingwood will no longer tolerate behavior such as that by Heath Shaw over the weekend. he went on to say "IT STOPS HERE AND NOW!"

Yet last night he was quick to excuse the behavior of his players. He said that "they are only human after all" that "they didnt really lie to the club, but more to look out for one another" he also went on to explain how commendable this was. So as far as I am concerned, he has well and truly contradicted himself regarding the comments he made earlier int he week. If I was a Pies supporter I would be questioning how seriously I can take the management of my club and whether they have got enough integrity to make it in September. This is not the behavior that you want to see if you want your team to succeed, which is ultimately what its all about.

Incidently, Eddie used last night as a forum to sell everyone on the Collingwood Football Club and how wonderful he is as president and as a human being. Yet, after seeing his comments about Lovett to Robo earlier in the week I personally thought it was pathetic. At least Essendon do not tolerate rubbish from their players.

It was as hard hitting as a packet of fairy floss!! He should have gone "on the couch" or something with a bit more oomph,  Sheehan and Walls would have asked the tough questions, it sounded as if he was in complete denial about everything, I think he loses credability by the day, he keeps telling us what a good kid Didak is, well heaven help the Pies and the AFL is they ever get a ratbag!!! Overall nothing more than PR stunt for Eddie and Collingwood
