I like Tony but I'm not real happy about Greg not going with him! I always thought that he kept Tony grounded!

What are your opinions on this?

  1. Zippy does keep Tony grounded but there wasn't an option for him to go with Tony. I think it will be a difficult transition for both Tony and Zippy, but they are great at what they do, so I think in time everything will work out.

  2. Smoke is going to be a bat out of h**l next year. I think he needs to put a little more then $50gees away for 2009 Fines. I perdict he will spin more drivers out next year. Can't wait

  3. I think they had a great run, but they have grown apart and don't click together as well as they did.  I think he'll do good with someone new.  Being a team owner may serve to keep him somewhat grounded, I hope.

    *HEXX*

  4. i thank Tony will do better next year with his new team mate

  5. I think he'll be ok without him.  I also don't think he'll have the same type of success he's had over the years with JGR.  I have a feeling it's over for him.

  6. same way Kenseth is with out Robbie

  7. I think it will depend on he gets as his crew chief. Chemistry is something he and Zippy have had for years....so I don't see instant success for him....but who knows by years end maybe. I think first half of season will be tough with better results in second half.

    As always just an opinion.

  8. Stewart is going to find it even harder to find the winners circle than it has been in the past 18 months. I don't blame Tony for what he's doing, he's made enough money to live his life comfortable. However, you'd like to see a driver keep that competitiveness, especially when Tony is considered an "older" driver at this point.

  9. Tony will be OK.  It's the fans (like me) who will have a problem with it.  LOL

I will miss that duo together!

  10. He will be running Hendrick cars so the equipment will be just as good as what he has now.  He is a big name and people will want to work with him so I think he will be able to get a big name crew chief and some big name engineers for the shop.  It will take some time to get those people in place and used to working together so he wont start off great but give it a little time and he will be just fine.

Zippi did a great job relating to Tony and keeping him under control.  This is going to be the biggest change.

The biggest reason Haas sucks now isn't the equipment since they are running the same stuff as Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Dale Jr, and Casey Mears.  Its that they don't know how to setup the equipment they have.

  11. It'll be rough at first, but he'll be fine without Zippy.

  12. I completely agree with you. I think he's going to struggle. He has alot of respect for Greg and I don't know if he will have that respect for Darian Grubb. I think it will be more of a boss-worker relationship. Instead of being friends first, then co-workers. I think he will struggle for a while at first.

  13. He'll do just fine-good driver

  14. I think your right about him always keepin tony grownded but i think that in the last few years tony has learned alot and grown up alot, i think him not winning as much has made him more humble, i mean he is winning just not in cup so he still gets a little taste when he needs to but i think he will do just fine because like i said he has changed alot i can tell this by just watching him on tv

  15. Tony is a top notch driver and he will be OK. he will not have as good of equipment and his crew chief will certainly not be as good so I think wins will obviously be harder to come by down the road.

  16. I think he's an awesome driver and will do fine in the long run, but the adjustment period will be pretty hard.

  17. It may be a little tough. Even swapping crew chiefs within the same organizations can be hard!!

Different sound/tone in someone voice makes all the difference in the world, when trying to explain how one's car is handling

  18. He will do ok, but it will take him awhile before he wins.

  19. I think it's going to come down if Tony and Haas can work together to make business decisions. I know when you have 2 people that has to agree on things then it can be hard to make decisions.

Since  NASCAR is going to unlimited testing next year and also having access to a 7 post shaker then it will be no time before he is competitive.

I would have liked to see Zip go with him too but Zippie was happy where he was at, so I can't blame either for their choices.

  20. I agree I think Tony & Zippy are a great team.  Zippy tried to keep Tony a bit more level headed.  I think Tony will be fine he knows what he wants and how to convey it to his team, plus he will decide on who his crew chief is since it's his team.  I hope Zippy does alright with Joey next year. That will be quite a change for him.
