They probably wouldn't know what you're talking about... you would be surprised at the ignorance of consumers/the general public.

i wouldn't be surprised at all. marketing firms have been doing it for ages. in the past, movie theaters used subliminal messaging where they flashed pics of food from the concession stand really quickly in the opening credits and previews, suddenly people craved these foods because they had no idea they had been tricked into wanting them!

I think they would react by buying whatever it was anyway.

Consumers are so brainwashed that they don't care what the source of their consumer desire is. They just care that they want something & don't care how they get it.

Hence, the sub-prime lending crisis.
