dident you hear that the fireworks where fake? and so was the girl that was singing, she was lip syncing because the girl they where going to have sing was to ugly  so they had the ugly one sing but the pretty one act like it was her singing

it was nice, the stadium looks like a star wars convention and the structure looks so futurlistic

I do not see live because of work, and then in this website [http://olympic.chinaassistor.com ] to find a video replay, I feel very good, very creative in particular with Chinese characteristics is the beginning, they used the instrument that is what??The second is like ancient Chinese used to print the font used it??

i was filled with awe.  i thought it was spectacular, that thousands of people could perform so well-----, and not be the works of computers.  the factt one child lip-synced, that the foot prints were pre-recordedactd, didn1t damper my enthusiasm nor could i ignore the many months and years of hard labor show such grand a show.  hopefully the gov. of china will halt the one child only law, child labor, low wages

It has its moments. The IOC should start thinking about the long athletes parade though....like allowed a limited numbers of athletes from each nation to march only.

I can't believe that there is some people who are just so ignorant about the "supposedly" fake fireworks.

A reality check for everyone: the 29 footstep fireworks, it is not fake. It is real. But the footage you see is digitally imposed/overlayed (probably from earlier rehearsal images). That means if you were in Beijing you will actually see the 29 foot steps fireworks on the street.

The reason they gave for digitally enhancing the footage was it is impossible to shoot all 29 steps in such quick succession and guess what, "for the safety of the helicopter crew shooting the scene".

And about the lip-synching...can we just forget it? I'm sure US and the Brits has done nothing Hollywood about it in entertainment business for child stars. (sarcasm if you don't know)

Anyways it's beautiful and complex and a great spectacle that would not be matched in a long long time.

I think its terrible that they chose one little girl's face to show while the other received no recognition for her beautiful voice simply because she wasn't "as cute".  Its just like the end of the movie "Singin' in the Rain," and it wasn't okay then, either.

Otherwise, I think it was a very well planned, well executed ceremony.  China obviously takes it very seriously.  They did some amazing things.
