  1. I am from U.S.A and when I think of HK I think of very rich well dressed people and high class women. I think HK has a diverse culture- mainly of asian influence.

  2. I have lived in HK for a year, after having worked in mainland China for many years.

I hope you will not mind me being frank.

First, I think HK people are VERY racist towards all non-Chinese.

Second, I think HK people are arrogant.

Third, I think HK people are small-minded and shallow.

Having said that, it may be that this is only the impression HK people give out. I hope that inside they are different

It may also be that I have to spend my time with the HK 'elite', so to speak. I remember when I was in the mainland I found many many lovely Chinese people.

The main problem Chinese and HK people will face is that as you all get richer the world will have higher expectations of you. For example, when HK was still a British colony it was kind of okay for HK people to say horrible things about white people.

Now, however, the ball is in YOUR court. We Westerners have tried to be less racist - now it's your turn.

At the moment, given the racism I've felt in Hong Kong, I have become VERY unsympathetic when Chinese/HK people cry 'racism' in my own country.

    Cuts both ways.

  3. Corrupt police and politicians whose influence goes to every branch of government, transport, health, industry, you name it and there is corruption. It didn't take very long for HK to become just like the Mainland, not long at all.
