  1. Think of the most interesting thing that's happened to you, and write about that. Or, read David Sedaris for help on making ordinary topics hilarious and interesting.

  2. Well, my ideas are mostly drawn from my life experiences. If you see something interesting on TV or if you recall something in your memories; you should build on it and twist it in some way to make it original. Just remember that having a creative imagination is very important and anything is possible in the fiction world. So just build on a subject or idea that you're interested in and let the ideas come to you. Don't be afraid to take risks. Think about how you want to approach the climax, and think about beginning and ending.

After you have a slight idea of where you're going, you can start thinking up characters and everything else. Antagonists, Protagonists, Minor Characters...Settings...etc. Know that sometimes a character may surprise you.

    Hope that helps. :)

  3. It takes a wit and an imagination to be able to write some great fantasy.

I would suggest you , that it's better your plot and story come to you. Don't force yourself to think of something. When you're least expecting , you will think of something creative and original.

    Let it come to you..

You can write your ideas on a paper , any idea in particular.

Then you can elaborate with your ideas , and then you're creating the plot.

When you're done with the plot , you're going with the story , then the characters , etc...

You can get your idea from watching a movie , reading book or a story , for example.

The more original and creative you are , the more the story and the plot will be.

    Good luck on your topic.

    xx Greetings

  4. I just sit back and zone out and I usually can get an idea pretty quick.

They aren't always good ones, but it's still something to write.

  5. Well, welcome to the awesome fantasy realm of writing! There are many way to go about getting ideas for your stories.

First, you can try a free write. This is when you start on a blank piece of paper, and just WRITE. Do not censor yourself, don't worry about the grammar or spelling, just go. There doesn't have to be a certain topic or character. Write whatever comes out.

Second, there's brainstorming. Start with a few topics or things you're interested in. Then, bubble out into other subjects that are related to the previous, then so on. You will get many ideas that are all related this way.

Then, there's writing generators. These are used to jog a writer's mind into thinking of abstract ideas with the word or phrases given. A good example of a writing generator can be found at Seventh Sanctum.

Hope I helped. Good luck with your story!

  6. Try taking an incident from your everyday life. Now "re-cast" it with different characters and a different location. If you like to write fantasy, put it in another world, with fantasy figures and mythical settings. And think outside the box - a trip to the store with your mom could be a search through an magical forest with an elder.

I recently wrote a screenplay for a film contest about a family who had to get their oldest daughter to the hospital to deliver a baby. It was very madcap, old-fashioned crazy, but here's the twist - the family were all green ogres.

So you could try a story about a normal happening in your life (your family vacation?) and make it a group of ogres, or fairies, or elves.

Hope this gives you some ideas.

  7. Good luck trying to come up an original topic, better to aim for a new slant on a familiar topic.  Write about something you know about, whatever that may be.

Build on your dreams, your fears, your hopes or those of others.  Put a twist on them, but remember when it comes to fantasy a little touch of reality is the key.
