The Native Americans say we have a limited number of heartbeats. The Buddhists, a limited number of breaths. The world incrementally ends the moment we are born, as each day places us closer to death.

My dad scared the heck out of me as a little girl saying the sun would burn up everyone, so in a sense he agrees with you. People are so self-involved, however, "the" world is "their" world. So, it lengthens in kindness, shortens in self-focus.

I think this world will end by a gamma ray burst from an undetected nearby supernova.  And it will come completely without any warning, and could happen at any time.  Almost all life will die, but otherwise the planet Earth will continue as before.  Sort of like a cosmic reset button.

When we find out some cities inside this earth, we come to the conclusion that this earth had been destroyed outwardly many a time and many a time we had been establishing again.  Guru Nanak Devji said, 'Kayi war pasreo pasaara, sadda sadda ek-kankara' means only God had been there and we had been coming and going and this earth had been having many changes.  No one can say what shall be the end of this era.
