  1. You tie (or clip) one end to the halter then tie the other end on a horizontal bar or pole.

  2. Rope is the conventional method, I think.

  3. tie the rope in a easy release knot, (on a post on some string) kinda of like how u tie a bow in ur shoes but just one loop.

if the horse panicks it is easy and quick to release

  4. Don't tie it to anything hard like a post or ring - it should always be tied to a piece of string that will break if the horse panics, rather than the horse breaking its neck falling.

It needs to be tied in a quick release knot which is almost impossible to describe but here is my best attempt at one method.

Put the rope through the string loop. Bring the free end over the top, make a loop which goes through the hole where you have crossed over and then pull tight. You will know if it is correct because if you pull the end of the rope the knot will come undone straight away, rather than getting tighter.

  5. Amazingly, if it's a horizontal post, you can just loop the rope around it six or seven times and the horse will never be able to pull it free, no knots or anything.  Try it yourself, crazy.
