How do you time the camshafts on a 2002 Ford Explorer 4.0l sohc?

With a $400.00 cam alignment tool set. Check and see if any of your local part stores rent or loan the tools and make sure you get GOOD step by step instructions or you'll do some expensive damage. Good luck.

follow the directions in the book perfectly.

You need special tools to time the camshafts, as Ford does not provide external timing marks to re-set the timing if the camshafts are disturbed.
