  1. The usual problem is finding the net amount from the total. In the case of UK VAT (17.5%) you divide the total by 117.5 and multiply by 100 to get the net amount.

    In your case you multiply the net amount by (100+TAX) /100

    Therefore VAT on £100 is £100*(100+17.5)/100=£117.50

  3. First your going to have to know what the total order comes to. Second, you need to know the tax rate. Every state is different.

    I'm going to use 5% (becauses that what it is where I live and its an easy number). If your purchase comes to $150.00, multiply that by .05 (5% or 5 cents), and it will give you the total tax amount $7.50. Now, just add that to the total $157.50 - May be a bit long, but, thats how I do it.
