How do you train you dogs not to attack your cat? I have seven dogs and they think they are a wolf pack

You've got your work cut out for you.  Did you adopt them as adults, or were they all puppies when you got them?  If they were adults and trained to attack cats and other animals, you will probably need to seek the advice of a professional dog trainer.  

Actually...I'd recommend going to "The Dog Whisperer" Cesar Milan's website and see if he has any training methods that might help you.  If your dogs think they are a wolf pack, they need be trained to know that YOU are the leader of their pack, and the cat is not prey.

*Edit - I just read that you kick the leader dog, and that will not work - it will only cause increased aggression.  Put Whitey on a short leash and bump her with your knee if she tries to attack the cat.  This will take some time and practice, but you mustn't hit or kick your dogs.

Give them firm correction the moment they start to go after the cat.  Get in between them and your cat.  Dogs don't know their own strengths and they can hurt the cat.

well you could try to put the dog on a leash and the cat hold back and let them see each other and bring them closer and closer. If the dog tries to bite yell at him "no!" this may take a while but i did this with a bunny and a dog! Good luck!

kinda rough on the cat with 7 dogs!!  As a trainer, we would lay the dog down and put the cat on em for a few minutes.. don't think thats gonna work with 7 dogs, but you can try.

I have a pit bull and we all know their natural instinct towards cats.  What I did was every time the dog saw the cat and barked or growled or even looked at the cat I told her no.  She was running loose one day and the cat was tormenting her and I put her on her leash and kept telling her no ever time she saw the cat.  She still doesn't like them but she isn't a quick to kill as before.  You need to figure out which dog is the leader of your pack.  Teach that dog first and the others will follow with time.  Just keep working with the leaders and you will succeed.

Taser their genitals at the first sign of any aggressive behavior towards felines...be consistent...be aggressive.

If they already attack cats I think it's too late. Dogs that don't attack cats are usually lazy, slow moving, mild tempered dog breeds. It is impossible for a doberman, a sepherd, or a pitbull not to attack to a cat.

I suggest you don't risk it.

You give em a little smack on the nose when they do it. Put your foot down and be the boss, and I'm not saying abuse them, make sure they know who is in control.

Protect the kitten, seven dogs could kill her easily. Just a firm no! It always worked for me, My dog listens to me though and its only 1 but I tell him don't hurt my Cat! And save the Cat pick him up and tell dogs, NO! Good Luck!

7 dogs is waaay to intimidating for a cat you have to raise them together from babys or at least the dog and there should not be that many the dogs will all gang up on your cat i highly doubt you will be able to unless the dogs are puppies and if you get more cats so that the cat dosnt feel so intimidated.

But don't confuse attacking the cat with having a strong curiosity towards the cat that the cat does not welcome.

To train a dog not to a attack a cat just train them the same way you would for anything (soft swat to the nose, a sharp "hey", pushing them to the ground and asserting "no", ect...).

If they are just curious and the cat is freaking, it's on the cat to learn to be cool with the dogs. The dogs will loose interest eventually.
