How do you train yourself to be a lighter sleeper?

Especially if your sleep is so heavy that when an earthquake in california recently hit i thought someone came and shook the room to try wakin me up so i woke up half asleep and got mad and then fell back asleep

  1. Well...you DID wake up.You were just confused (which happens more than you think) so you went back to bed.

    Well, what my mum did when she first started working overnights was set her alarm an hour early every day until she could get about a couple hours sleep and wake up on her own.
