  1. qd means daily or once a day.

    qod is every other day.

    edit:  Sorry med student.  Your abbreviations may be correct wherever you are from, but mine are the ones standardly used in USA.  I know there are other acceptable ones, but mine are not incorrect and have been the JCHCO approved ones used in every hospital where I have worked.

    RN for 29 years.

    BID is twice a day

    TID is three times a day

    QID is 4 times a day

    HS is at bedtime


  2. "qd" - each day, which comes from the latin quaque die

    to the poster above - OD or od is used for right eye, or oculus dextere

    bd should be bid - bis in die - twice a day

    by using latin based terminology it creates an accepted system through various industries, although you will see some variations facility to facility

    4 times a day - qds

  4. The "med" student above is incorrect.  QD is once daily.
