um u have to get a program... i use videora ipod converter most times.. just google that and it should work.

Generally, DVD has CSS protection, so you could not manual it as the same as CD. You need a DVD Ripper software, which could convert your DVD to MP4 format, then add them to your itunes.

Unfortunately, if it is a commercial DVD it is copyright protected and you can't legally copy it to your hard drive, or iTunes for that matter.

iPod can only support mpeg4 video.
