I recently bought a JVC camera Model no. GR-DA30U. However, I do not know how to transfer the videos I have on that camera to my mac book. I already have a firewire cord, but when I plug it in nothing pops up in my finder. Please help.

  1. Launch iMovie and create a new project. Connect your camera using the FW cable (use AC power). Load the cassette and turn on the camera to Play/VCR mode. Use iMovie controllers to import the video.

Look in iMovie Help menu for more info.

  2. You need to launch an application, such as iMovie (should have been provided as part of the OS discs) which will see the camcorder as a video device (rather than a storage device, such as a hard disk, which would pop up on finder)
