My laptop is a HP Pavillion DV 6000 and the camcorder is a Sony HC24e. The DV tapes are only 60 mins long, so I want to transfer the filiming and pictures on to DVD's. Please help.

Kind Regards,

Darsh

  1. If that laptop does not have a built-in firewire port, get a firewire PCMCIA card and use Firewire to import the video.

Sony did not include a firewire cable in the box. You will connect the DV port of the camcorder to the firewire port on the computer.

Be advised that 1 hour of standard definition video will use about 13 gig of hard drive space.

To transfer pictures from the memory card, use the USB cable that cam in the box with the camcorder and connect it to a USB port on the computer.

DO NOT connect the USB and firewire cables to your camcorder and the computer at the same time.

MovieMaker will import the miniDV tape video - then you can edit that video.

  2. you need an AV to USB cable and you can transfer using windows movie maker.
