How do you transfer songs from a Flash drive and into your Itunes?

When trying to transfer songs from a flash drive to itunes, I can play the song through my shared music. However, when I try to import the songs, it looks for a file. Thinking that the Itunes had already picked it up, I looked in my music. The song was there, but it said that it couldn't be played because the original file could be found. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance :-)

Leave the flash drive plugged in, and move the music you are having problems with into iTunes. While keeping the flash drive in your computer, open iTunes and go to the "Advanced" menu. Choose "Consolidate Library". This will copy the music into a folder on your computer, which gives iTunes a place to read the music from. Good luck!
