  1. Get a  Rubbermade tub or bucket for each plant.  I've seen them sitting in plant nurseries like this.  You will need to move them with you, as a friend moving to FL from VA says that moving companies won't move plants.

    Good Luck!

  2. You definitely need find out if the plants are acceptable in the state you are going to.  For Example Florida,California and Arizona are extremely difficult at the check points and well they should be.  Invasive plants are nothing to take to places like these ...because of our food supply.

Some states allow grass carp in their waters some prohibit them completely.  The penalties would outweigh the benefits.

    Good Luck on your move.

If you're planning on transporting live plants, be sure it is legal to send the plants to the destination you have in mind. Some states have strict rules regarding the import and export of plant matter, in an effort to keep invasive species from ruining natural habitats.

  3. First of all, you need to contact the County Extension Office in the county you are moving to. There are a great many plants that are considered 'Invasive' and are illegal to transport into an area. You need to find out if the plants you are bringing are allowed into the area, and also, if those plants are allowed to be transported over state lines. If you are caught transporting plants that are considered 'Invasive' to an area, you would be looking at HEAVY fines and possibly arrest.

I realize that you have probably spent a great amount of money on your plants, or they have great sentimental value, but you would probably be better off leaving them and getting new ones for your new home.
