  1. Here's another way to approach this- although the other answers are also correct.  Whatever key the sax music is written in, to make it clarinet music, add ONE SHARP to the key signature. Alto sax part in G - wanna make is Bb clarinet music?  Re-write in in the key of D - two sharps.

  2. To transpose music written originally for the alto saxOphone (please note the spelling of your chosen instrument!) for the B-flat clarinet, you have to transpose all notes down a perfect 5th. They will then sound at the same pitch as the alto sax. However, some notes might be too low for the clarinet, requiring some judicious transposition up one octave.

  3. It depends on the kind of clarinet you have. If you are using a Bb Clarinet, this transcription chart can help you:

    Eb Instruments play: A  C E  G  F#E  D  B  Bb  Eb  Ab  C# F

    Bb Instruments play:   D  F A  C  B    A  G  E  Eb  Ab  C#   F# Bb

If you are using an Eb Clarinet however, you don't have to transpose since the Alto Saxophone is also an Eb instrument.
