  1. Take a nice deep breath and fill your lungs with air.  Next kinda arch your back lean back in the water.  Slowly use your legs in a bicycle kicking motion and use a figure 8 paddle with your hands.  The idea is to remain calm.... if you start to panic you will sink.  When you need to take a breath just let it out quick and then inhale quick.

  2. If you tread water you will tire out. If you want to just float that is different.

  3. Move both arms in an large, opposite circular motion, ie. left hand clockwise, right hand anticlockwise. Kick legs either long, flowing breaststroke style, or kick normally, but also with a circular motion. This uses the least effort, but you will tire eventually.

  4. There is no way to tread water without eventually tiring out.  The length of time you can stay aflot while treading is dependant upon your stamina and whether or not you are assisted by any floatation devices.

  5. Gain some weight so that you float better, it works for me...

  6. YOU BUILD YOUR MUSCLES
