Do you treat your wetsuit with the content it so certainly doesn't deserve? How often do you wash your wetsuit after a surf? How do you wash it? Do you wee in your wetsuit?

  1. I rarely wash out my wetsuit with fresh water, eventhough I know I should. I usally drive to the beach, and when it's time to go, the wet suit gets laid out to dry in the back of my Suburban. If I am staying near the beach, I may rinse in the motel shower when I get back there, and hang it out to dry. If I am taking the two hour drive home, it just gets folded and put back in my bag. The only time I consistently wash it out is the few times a year when I stay in a beach front house, and I use the outside shower, or if I surf at a beach that has a public freshwater shower head. None of my wetsuits are really new, and they have held up, inspite of my poor treatment. And... of course I pee in it. What do you want me to do, paddle in and find a public toilet?

  2. I always try to rinse my suit out with fresh water, either with the hose or just get in the shower with it on.

As for peeing in it, here's a Haiku I wrote:

    Howling Nor''Easter

    Duck diving, ice cream headache

    Pee in my wetsuit

I find that peeing in my wetsuit can add probably another 15 - 20 minutes of in the water time when it's freezing out.

  3. I dont use soap what i do is ill either take it off in the shower or i will always hose it with fresh water and fully wash it.  then you want to hang it on a hanger somewhere out side where it will not get rained on.  that will prevent that sweat smell.

And h**l yes taken a p**s is the best thing ever in the winter lol

  4. for the first 6 months I don't pee in my suit and rinse it asap and hang it on my fence in the shade. On rare occasions, I might take it into the shower with me.

To avoid peeing in my suit, I always pee after I've pulled the suit up to my waist before I pull it up.

After six months, the suit doesn't feel new anymore, sometimes I'll leave it in a bucket of water overnight and hang it in the morning. I try not to pee in it but I will if I really have to go.

After one year, I pee in it whenever I feel like it. The suit is starting to wear thin (due to stretching, saltwater, sun and pee) and smells like the monkey cage at the zoo from all of my thick urine. (I take multivitamins) I still rinse it after every use and NEVER hang it in the sun, always in the shade. Sunburn is the fastest way to ruin a suit.

A good wetsuit lasts one to two years. But I just buy two suits every two to four years so I always have a dry one if I surf an evening and the next morning. I pay a lot of money for a good suit, but I don't pretend that cleaning it is going to make it last forever. It will last two years maximum.

  5. Rinse it out after every time you surf. Salt water will wreck everything. Also by a "shoulder saver hanger" which stops the suit for having the shoulders get stretched out.

  6. Looking after your wetsuit is something really up to you !

You can wash if u want to but it will now last too much longer than if you did !

but I usually give mine a rinse off before I go surfing or have a shower with it on (dont use soap on it just good old water)! or give it spraydown with the hose before you go or when you get back!

As for having a wizzz in the suit ! It has to be done ! So just do it !

  7. I never use soap on my suits; the water in Florida is pretty clean. I rinse it after each session. When I get home, I put it in the bath tub and fill the tub to cover the suit. I move the suit around, then turn it inside out and let it soak for a minute. When I take it out of the tub, I hang it on a large plastic hangar inside the shower stall. I have three suits and have never 'weed' in any of them. Two are sealed welded seamed, which means the 'wee' would stay in the suit the entire time I was in the water.

  8. just rinse throughly with water. i used to work in a surf shop and right before the new suits came out there used to be "clinics" we went to (mostly by ripcurl). even they say rinse with water. but do it every time you surf. hang dry--not in the sun.

as for pissing in my suit---sure.
