your upper body your shoulder's should be twisting and pointed where you want the nose of your board its hard to explain well i really dint know how hard to explain until now just watch movies

your shoulders and hip should be working together so as you turn your shoulder to either left or right your hip should be doing the same thing you also wanna apply pressure on your toes or your heels depending on which direction youre trying to turn hope that made some sorta sense turning is definetly an essential to riding a wave or avoiding pearling

nah in snowboarding you use your back foot keeping your front foot still pretty much while in surfing your turning with ur front foot keeping your back foot still as if on a swivel. you only use your back foot to lean the way you want to go
