  1. You have to tell the camera what you want to do ... most of us shoot in RAW + JPEG ... we use the JPEG to edit (sort) the images and then we process the corresponding RAW files ... saving them as either TIFF or high rez JPEG

Just look in your cameras owner manaul

  2. HI Tasha...  With my XTi in my hands right now....  please follow my instructions.  Turn on your camera.. of course.. press the Menu button on the back...  scroll on down to Quality and open.  Once you have that page opened... scroll down to RAW+L or just RAW.   Voila!!  There you go!!   Now you are in RAW.  If you choose RAW +L it will save both ways... in Raw and in JPEG.   If you only want to save in Raw...  just choose it.    Hope that helps.  :))

PSS.  If you have never used your Menu features and don't know how to select.....  after you scroll down to the item of your choice...  to select, push the the small button in the center.

  3. You also have to * not * use the "creative mode", i.e. flower, sport, and all that, and use the "letter mode", such as P, Av or T, so the choice will appear in the menu.

I stick to P mode and I still have control over the speed shutter & the aperture with the little dial thingie next to the shutter button.
