How do you turn when surfing?

People say you turn with your front foot, yet when I watch surf videos the front of the board is usually up in the air, so i don't get it! Do you lean back, so the front of the board is up like that or whats the deal?

Put pressure on the back foot over the fins and point your body in the direction you want to go.

you turn by moving your hips and dividing the weight on each foot depending on the direction your turning . ( wether your goofy or regular )

Its sort of like on a skateboard, for a smooth turn you lean toward the side you wish to turn to. For a fast shredding turn you put your weight on the back foot while redirecting the direction of the board with your front foot.

Just smooth turns? Just lean forward and backwards, and put pressure on the back of the board.
