Is there any way to tye dye using home products such as food coloring?

  1. Yes, there is, but they are not permanent.

    Take the shirt and roll it up so it looks like a log. Every couple inches put a rubber band and wind it super tight so the dye can't get to it. Fill a bowl with the coloring and either dip or soak the shirt. You can either repeat with multiple colors, or do it once with multiple colors floating in the water.

    Vinegar and ironing it inside out will help to set the color. But these could still wash out into your other clothing so always wash it by itself.

  3. Sure, but the item will likely continue to "bleed" each time you wash it. Vinegar might help to set the color, but I would still recommend just regular ol' Rit dye - composed of fairly inert ingredients anyway, I'd guess.

  4. u don't, use the real stuff, it would  look better anyway and if u buy a kit and JOANN fabrics or Michaels, or A C Moore and u could get a better selection of colors
