Is there a way to unclog a drain using regular household items? I know the baking soda + vinegar one, so was wondering if you had anything else along the green route. Thanks.

  4. Very hot water and the baking soda should do the work , but it all depends what you have in there , if you are in the bathroom and you have hair in the drain you could fish them out by using a wire coat hanger , that for the tub or sink of coarse, for the toilet bowl use  the water and baking soda mixture ,or use a snake or plunger , last resort ,the Plumber..

In the kitchen if you have a trap you could open it and clean it our providing that it has one of those s***w on type of traps, hot water will melt grease but never dispose of grease and coffee grinds in the sink , this will cause clogging,

  5. Baking soda & vinegar every week or so is a good thing but a snake once a month helps a lot. Also using strainers helps keep a lot out to begin with. If you do all of that & the plunger still won't work you will probably need to ask your friends for a reference for a good, honest plumber. The price will also inspire you to use the prevention methods.

  6. A plumbers snake, and maybe a little sodium Hydroxide lye to clean ****.

let stand with towel over drain, rinse for I5 mins; Done

  7. A plunger is always the first thing to try , If that don't do it you can reckon on either taking off the S trap or goose-neck as some people refer to it as... This is located directly under the out-let/drain (where you put the plug in) It's a yukky job and best left a pro to do , but if you find this is not blocked or are unable to get it off next step is to go outside and see if you are able to access the elbow inspection points and try to open one of them this will tell you if the blockage is 'down-stream' if so have a look down the inspection point outside of your house this will be 100mm or 4 inches in diameter if the water level is high at this point you will need to call a plumber. If not get a torch and shine it down the opening you will be looking for roots growing on the inside of the earthenware pipes they generally come in where the smaller pipes join up to the 100mm . Good luck!!!!!
