How do you undo a "Remember this choice and don't ask me again"?

The program I'm using is the Opera web browser. It always used to give me a prompt asking me what program I would like to use to open my files but I foolishly checked the box "Remember this choice and don't ask me again" recently. Then I downloaded an update for that particular application and now the video doesn't work. It'd be nice to have that little prompt back. Any idea how I can revert my settings?

  1. have you tried right clicking the download and selecting "open with"?

also, you can try going to the program that is opening the download and go to the preferences section and tell it not to open those types of files by default.

if it's opera that's opening the file, go to your toolbar, go to tools/preferences/advanced/ (or, just type ctrl+f12), then you should have it from there-just look for the file type.
