  1. I'm no expert, but I say person has to want to win in order to be competitive, they also have to be confident at whatever it is they are doing, but you can't make anyone want to do something just as I'm sure no one could make you want to play soccer, you chose to play or continue playing it because you liked it right?

I would say if she's trying out for a team let her know that she'll have to start becoming competitive if she wants to make it, then when she's on the team, she'll probably develop the drive to want to win coming from the collective competitive nature of her teammates. That's ONLY if however this girl WANTS to win, if not then her skills will only go so far if they aren't matched by a desire to be competitive.

Also note that some people like play sports just for the fun if it too.

  2. She needs a motive.

Or at least something or someone to look upon that is good and confident at the same time. A coach isn't good enough. She needs hard competition and someone that can make her look bad in order for her to try and play her hardest and prove to everyone that she really is as good as she is. If she is really good of course she dosent want to waste her time wanting to win against people who are not as good as she is!
