How do you unlock a screen on a video ipod?

I must have accidentally did something to lock the ipod. There is an icon of a LOCK on the top of the video ipod screen. How do you unlock it please?

This lock button icon you speak of actually means hold. You unlock it by sliding the hold button the other way. If the actual screen is locked, like needs  the number code, plug it into your computer, and it will unlock.
