How do you unlock and get better weapons for you character in team fortress 2?

Yeah I just bought the game and trying to figure out how to exactly get them :|

You get them by unlocking the "Milestone" achievements.  You unlock those by unlocking other achievements.  (e.g.: to unlock the Heavy's sandwich, you need to unlock 10 Heavy achievements.

Note: not all classes have unlockable weapons yet.

You'll need to complete class Achievements. Click the Achievement box to see the achievements for the 3 classes that currently have unlocks.

The unlockables are

First Unlock is at 10 Achievements

Pyro - Flare Gun

Medic - Blutsauger

Heavy - Sandvich

Second is at 16 Achievements (including Milestone 1)

Pyro - Back Burner

Medic - Kritzkreig

Heavy - Natascha

Third is at 22 Achievements (including Milestone 1&2)

Pyro - Axtinguisher

Medic- Ubersaw

Heavy - The K.G.B. (Killing Gloves of Boxing)
