if you're attempting through e-mail, there is a great big delay in it ever going through. if you can get to the homepage to do it, it is the most effective way to unsub from any group, however those who didn't link an ID to the memebrship are limited to doing it by e-mail.

try e-mailing the owner and asking them to remove you

to unsub on group site- click edit membership top middle of page, near group title- next page scroll to lower right and click Leave group- next page you must confirm by clicking Leave
