How do you upload pictures from a digatal camera?

i really want to know so i can send pic to my friends when i go out of town i and i promise them i'll show them pic but i don't know how

I use a card reader. Pull out my SD card, put it in the reader, and plug it into a USB cable. Open Windows Explorer, and *poof* it picks up the reader as a "Removable Disk". Edit>Select All>right click and move to a folder on my external drive. Done.
