When i click on the "My DVR" button, nothing happens. Then I thought you may have to press record on the program, but it says it's recording to a VCR. So how do I record my shows? And where do the programs go when they've completed recording?

  1. Usually when you press the white DVR button it will take you to your recordings. You can preset what you want to record. Find the shows that you want to record and press ok there will be a red dot on the bottom of your screen go to that and press it, it will then ask you if you would like to record this program press yes. Also you can set series recordings where it will record all of the new episodes of your shows on its own, just got to the red dot again and there will be diff. options just go to the one that says set series recording. When your shows are done recording just go to MY DVR and they should be there. Hope this helps.

  2. There are 2 common reasons for getting that message: #1 you dont have a DVR, just a cable box w/ no recording capability. All comcast remotes come w/ a DVR button b/c its cheaper to mass produce a remote that is universal for all boxs comast offers...which confuses people b/c they have buttons that are no use to them. #2 IF you do have a DVR, then a past recording may have had an error in it which can cause this problem, or it had a power/signal surge that effected hard drive. Unplug box for 1 minute, plug back in, wait 1 min. turn it on, wait 30 min for it to reprogram then press MY DVR, if you still get the msg then the hard drive has an error, you need a new box b/c its an internal error where its not recognizing the hard drive. Call comcast & have rep "initialize the box", follow what they say if still doesnt work you need it swapped.
