I want to sell some stuff on e-bay. What are the basics for setting up an account? Also , my friend told me that you have to pay to sell things . Is this true ? Also , briefly , what happens when you try to sell something ? With the timer "buy now" options and things ?And ,finally , is it safe ?

Thanks !

  1. You just give your basic details in setting up an account such as name DOB address . etc it is safe as long as you read the small print you have to pay to put pictures of what your selling up but thats it and its quite cheap also you will need a credit or debit card handy and when selling things just set it a price you find resonable  and see where it goes from there and if someone wins the you wil have to send the item via post immediatly or take it of the market and its not sold. Its quite easy once you get the hang of it. Hope this helps

    This website is pretty useful.

  3. Hi, that is a lot of questions to answer.

I suggest you start by buying a few things. That gives you an idea how the system works and what to expect and helps you get started on building a feedback rating. To do so, you will be getting started on the process with the first step creating your account!

I also recommend that you spend a lot of time reading. Read the eBay help pages and get a good book about selling on eBay. I highly recommend Marsha Collier's Dummies books just make sure to get a 2007 or 2008 one as the rules change continually!

You can either borrow a copy from a public library or make it your first purchase on eBay!

    Good luck!
