  1. Why do you "want to have a go with these on your husband"?

Ear candling in general is silly.  There is no evidence it does anything at all..never mind remove earwax or the ever popular and never defined "toxins".  It is not possible to "create a vacuum" that sucks the wax out, as it is impossible to create a proper seal, and the burning of the candle and rising of hot air does not create sufficient energy to make such a vacuum.  That is a pseudo-scientific explanation.

There are very simple and reliable ways to remove ear wax, such as putting olive oil drops in the ears for a few days to soften/dissolve the wax.  Having it flushed out with an ear syringe by the nurse at your doctors office is safe and effective.

There have been numerous case reports in the medical literature of burns and perforated eardrums from the use of ear candles

Lastly...Hopi Indians have no such tradition.  It is just a marketing gimmick.

  3. I used to work at a health farm & we used ear candles as a treatment. You will need help, you lay down on one side as the candle is placed into your earhole but gently placed in while the other person then sets light to the candle, as the candle burns away the pressure of the air will draw the wax from your ears, you will probably feel some crackling & popping sounds in your ear when this is happening, as the candle runs out get the other person to blow it out should it not go out itself. You'll be amazes at just how much wax & dirt is removed. Aftewards once the bit of the candle remaining has cooled down you can unwrap it & see what has been withdrawn from inside your ear before throwing it away. Well worth it in my opinion, good luck, hope you enjoy it.
