  1. Unplug the monitor cable and hook the LCD projector in the plug where the monitor went in.  The video will play through the projector, as long as the projector has the same plug.

You might have to mess with the resolution settings for it to look right.

  2. This can be tricky without help.  You also have to make sure your video card drivers are up to date.  To show DVDs you pretty much have to buy software to show them.  I use mine every day.

  3. I have been using an LCD projector in my classroom for the last 2.5 school years.  I love it!  Last year my district actually had projectors and scads of other technology installed in each classroom, but prior to that, I had a projector on a cart with a document camera, dvd/vcr combo, and a laptop.  I ran the cords up to the ceiling, then over to a plug on the wall.  (My custodian wasn't happy!)

It has been a wonderful tool.  I play videos from unitedstreaming and brainpop on the laptop and it shows up on the big screen.  I can model writing with the document camera, show movies with the dvd/vcr, and much more.

It gives a very crisp and clear image for students, while increasing the size so that everyone can see it.  By projecting on a screen instead of on a TV monitor, it helps everyone feel like they are involved instead of squinting.

I say just experiment with the setup until you know what you can get from the projector!

    Good luck and have fun!
