How do you use Paint.Net?

Question

K so i wanna make my picture black&&white, but i want only one object to show up color.

how do I do that?

and how do i put a background in it, like those myspace layout site defaults?

help?

Putting in a background depends on what you have to work with in your final black and white image and what kind of background.
