How do you use a dollar bill mute for violin?

How do you attach it to the bridge so it would have a muted sound? I don't need a heavliy muted sound (I just need a quick alternative I have orchestra rehearsals coming up soon).

  1. Roll it up and stick it through the strings on the tail side of the bridge. http://hughsung.com/blog/media/1/2007111...

    A quicker solution is to use clothespins clipped on either side of the bridge.

    ... Of course the best solution is to buy an actual mute and keep it in your case for you need it.
