  1. Is your cat diabetic?

    Please read my profile.

If you are just starting insulin I strongly suggest no more then 1 unit 2x a day to start

Here are testing instructions with vid and pics

    Testing

Take a sock and add rice to it. Zap it in the miocrowave to make it hot and use it to warm your cat's ear before testing. Test the sock on your wrist to make sure it isn't too hot first

Before starting, put the strip 1/2way into the meter so it doesn't turn on

You want to poke between the vein and the outer edge of the ear. Shine a flashlight on the ear to see where the vein is

When you get a little blood, knead near the area to make more come out. You only need a small drop. Using the vulcan ear grip in 1 hand, push the strip in the meter with the other.

Try testing yourself first to get an idea how the strip sips

  2. First I would have to know which one you are using- If it is a alpha trac it  is pretty simple-Turn it on, make sure that it is calibrated to a cat not dog- then insert strip when asked- You can use the ear- Gently use your finger to gently message the ear upward to get the blood to the top portion of the ear- gently pric the ear with the lancet given in the kit- all you need is a small amount of blood- after the machine beeps  wait for the results. Hope this helps
