How do you use a seven day pass for the CTA?

Does it get scanned before you enter the train or does it get checked on the train? Thanks.

Before you enter the train. You put it in the turnstile slot, on the right hand side, to release one turn of the gate.

Let's say you use your card on Thursday, the time of your first ride, it will be good through Wednesday. It does not start counting 7 days until you use it.

Lolly pretty much got it.  I would also mention that when you put the card in it will pop back up half way.  You need to remove the card.  The gate will not operate until the card is removed.  You can also see the progress on the LCD screen on the turnstile.

As with all passes they are not activated until you put your card into the turnstile  to enter the train station.  The only CTA employee on the train is driving it, there is never anybody checking your card before you board the train or on the train.
