How do you use a tape measurer?

I know how to use the hardware kind but the kind that you measure your body size with confuses me. Help!!!!!!!

What I do is to make sure I know which side I'm using. Then you hold the start to a point on the part you want to measure, then wrap the loose end around and where it overlaps hold the point where it touches the end you were holding. That would be with the other hand. Then you leave the start point and where your fingers are you read off the measurement.

Remember to leave some slack if you make clothes. Unless it should be skin tight.

just wrap it around what ever you are measuring and where the end meets the tape read of the number and that's the figure you need.  Get someone to help you if you are struggling to hold the tape in position.
