How do you use a window punch?

It seems easy enough to pull the spring, but when the glass becomes shattered in its frame, how can you safely get the glass out from that point? Also, which ones are the best to buy online?

Apply tape to the glass before you punch it. You can then safely remove the glass because it is stuck to the tape. A durable tape such as packing tape works well.
