  1. My favorite free text to speech is festival, or festvox.  It's free.

    I used to convert whole books from Gutenberg with it.  But now Librivox has human readers who volunteer.

    I run Linux.  You mileage may vary.


  2. I like to use a free website called YAKiToMe! http://www.yakitome.com that has really high quality text to speech in multiple languages from AT&T and from Microsoft. Turns any electronic text into an mp3 you can download to your iPod or listen to on your computer. Check it out.
