How do you use the guitar and bass for Rock Band Wii?

I am having a huge party and i need to no how to use both Please help me if you can.

u have to connect that usb thing with 4 plug ins, then you connect the component you need into it, the guiter and bass are the same one, for the guiter you use the upper notes and for the bas u use the lower notes, if they are on then the lights should stay on and not be blinking

you plug the bass usb cable in the thing where 4 usb cables can fit and then do the same with the guitar.
